Harvard Business School MBA: Application Essays and Deadlines 2025-2026

Harvard Business School announced its applications for the MBA Class of 2028. This year the admission cycle will consist of only 2 rounds and the application process will be broken down into 3 main phases – A written application, Interview and Post-Interview Reflection.

The details of the 3 phases are as follows:

Phase 1: Written Application

The materials required to be submitted as a part of this phase are as follows:

• Transcripts
• GRE /GMAT scores
• English Language Test scores (See below)
• Application Essays (To be announced)
• Two letters of recommendation
• Resume
• Application fees (or waivers as may be applicable)
• Acceptance of policies

English Language Test: A TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson Test of English (PTE), or Duolingo English Test is required for applicants who attended institutions where the medium of instructions was not English. Its also recommended for applicants who completed their graduate degree in English but not mandatory.

Phase 2:

An interview is scheduled with shortlisted candidates providing them an opportunity to meet members of the HBS community in person. An interview invite does not guarantee an admit.

Phase 3:

Within 24 hours of the interview, applicants need to submit a written reflection.

Submissions are due by 12pm ET

Applications received after September 3, 2025 will be considered in Round 2. Applications received after January 5, 2026 will not be considered. Please note that each “round” represents a distinct period in which you may apply, not a succession of steps for your application. You may apply in one round only, one time in an application year.
